Personal identity is the key for many secured documents and storages for many people. In such cases, the personal identity should be secured with at most care and secrecy. The personal identity can be the mailing address, email addresses, PIN numbers or anything safeguarding the documents and materials. The identity theft and fraud criminals often get the personal identity of the victims and use it for stealing their properties and documents.
One among the common mistake many people do is discussing confidential information in the public. People tend to forget that the information uttered in public can be noted down by other person in the surrounding and can misuse it for the illegal transactions or access to the secured information.
The password for the email accounts are sometimes shared by the people to other over the phone or direct conversation. The identity theft criminals can misuse the email accounts to get to know the personal data stored in the emails and get easy access to the secured information.
The ATM pin numbers are the key for the bank accounts. Disclosing the pin number is like giving a signed blank cheque to a stranger. The pin numbers for the credit and debit card accounts should be maintained secretly by the individuals and should not be written on the card itself.
While discussing confidential information in the public, we should note the surrounding and appropriate care should be taken when the discussion requires personal data to be shared with others. If the data has to be provided to somebody over the phone, then we can avoid the open phone booths and chose the better place where the data provided is not recorded or over heard by anybody else.
When we realise the secured documents are stolen or an unusual transaction happened in the accounts, we should inform the police or the corresponding authorities immediately. The case should be filed with proper details for further investigation. The bank accounts can either be blocked or secured further to avoid such illegal transactions.
The personal details are meant to be maintained with at most care by the individual. In cases where the data to be provided to anyone, proper care should be taken so that the data does not go in wrong hands and get misused by the identity theft criminals.
